Week of April 14th, 2013 - Faceless O’Clock

Every avatar this weeks uses the Faceless Glitch or the Truly Faceless Glitch- the one with Lumiere Noire. There’s not a whole lot else to it.

Sunday: Spicy DJ (Crank that Sound), Big Bad Bossu (Legs).
Monday: Old Nikolas (Armored Great Coat) and (Birch-Grown Spear), Beard Science (Fireproof Slacks), War of the Warlords (Vlad’s Cap), and some white gloves. Old Nikolas’s coat doesn’t do a very good job of hiding the wings from Lumiere Noire.
Tuesday: The Case of Pietro (the wreck), Mystery of the Stolen Sapphires (Countess’s Dress), Dander (Duster), White Traveller Undershirt, and some white gloves. The Dander Duster, by contrast, hides the wings excellently.
Wednesday: Death’s Whisper (Consume), Dutiful Butler’s Black Coat, Dancer’s Bottom, and Black Sweetheart Silk Top Hat. This avatar only uses the regular faceless glitch.
Thursday: Big Bad Bossu Default pose, (Legs) and (Hair).
Friday: enitrely too many items went into this. The core includes Yama no Tamago (ao no tengutsuki), DandiDooDad Spore (Symbiont Phase III), Mizuchi’s Jewel (Enko’s Cucumber), and Kelp O’ The Loch (weedhair); after that, you simply throw whatever green and planty outfit parts you have at it. (Again, regular faceless glitch only)
Saturday: Lovely Genie (vest, pants, slippers, lamp), Djinn Baharat default pose, Dandy’s Reprise default pose, Forteanagoria (eyes of the Mothman)

Week of March 31st, 2013

Sunday: At the end of the Easter Event, I wanted to be a robotic rabbit entity. So I put this together.
Monday: I’ve been a bit starved for ideas lately: working all the time. But we *do* play Bang! at work a lot…
Tuesday: This is a scary guy in a dark cloak. I told you I was kinda starved for ideas, didn’t I?
Wednesday: This fellow was kicking around my saved avatars for quite some time. I tossed some appropriately-colored socks on him and threw him out the door.
Thursday: More ravens, blackbirds, and crows than the previous record-holder. That was my goal. Being more gruesome was a side effect.
Friday: …I just hope you have Freya’s permission to be on her chariot, Tengu. I just hope.
Saturday: My entire weekend was basically spent eating pasta with no shirt on. And this is another standard self-portrait avatar.

Week of March 24th, 2013

Sunday: …I swear I came up with another name for this character than “the female Cheddar Avenger” but I’ll be damned if I can remember what it was. Looks like… it was Amber Orange? Well, it’s a start. I’ll come back to this. OH the reason I made a new avatar for her was to use the Brown Patterned Xiaoxia Stockings. Aren’t they cute?
Monday: You know the cover of the The Felt album? You know, from Homestuck? I tried to reproduce Snowman’s appearance from the cover here, with some success. The primary component, of course, is Astra-11: Lucky Clover which can give any avatar a green hue.
Tuesday: Oh, this fellow. Just playing around with Odin’s Beard and wondering what all I can do with it. This avatar is simply proof-of-concept that Compass of Seidh (Odin’s hair and beard) can work with Henry Hatsworth’s Bowler Hat (Henry Hatsworth’s Grey Mustache)- the beard precludes a lot of other facial hair.
Wednesday: Hey, look, more Homestucks. Basically, these are the minimal components for cosplaying Nepeta on Gaia. It really wants the Gray Body Dye, but that’s more than a little expensive. But yeah, I’ve got the basics.
Thursday: I got the Maroon Froufrou Leggings for the same reason I get ALL leggings- superhero cosplays. Since I got the Emerald Oberon Cape for about the same reason, it made sense to wear them together.
Friday: I swear I cosplayed Dave Strider before, but I can’t find any record of it! This is primarily LOHACSE Dave, but (just in case I already cosplayed this and just failed to find it) I added The Runaway King Broken Sword to the outfit since god-tier Dave carried a busted sword.
Saturday: Sometimes Snape had a beard in the books. That’s all.

(Well, okay, I got shiny hair from Hollywood Tease, which I got for the dress I that Snowman is wearing, and I wanted to use it.)

What order/pose/etc did you use to make that one completely faceless glitch (the one with the Pietro pose)..but I dont want the pose, just the faceless glitch. I have Timmy, Lumiere and Demonic Style.

The main difficulty with the truly-faceless glitch is finding some way to obscure or remove the wings that Lumiere Noire gives you. Here are some suggestions!

Week of March 17th, 2013 - A fistful of backgrounds.

Sunday: St. Patrick’s Day! Since the theme I was building for the week was “villain-types against backgrounds, I decided to switch to a different style for my St. Patrick’s Day leprechaun. He’s not quite the horror movie Leprechaun, but he’s close.
Monday: There really can be only one. You should hope it’s not this one. Both this avatar and Sunday are wearing the same base shirt: the White Nomad’s Cotton Shirt.
Tuesday: That heavy brow on the automaton’s face spoke to me. It said, “I’m an old-school gangster, and you ain’t got nothin’ on me, see?” You might not notice at first, but large portions of his trunk and arms are actually see-through. Also, normally the automaton face is just a mask, but a touch of the faceless glitch makes it a head in its own right. Still had robots on the brain, I guess.
Wednesday: Well, isn’t she a sweet-looking little killer? Looking only, though. She does intend to kill you.
Thursday: Boss Goblin in Paradise. “Yeah… you’re gonna have to cut this vacation short. We need you back in the office tomorrow.” A true villain. The goblin is put together with Changeling Baby Boy (Aegir’s Skin,) Changeling Baby Girl (Ran’s Ears,) and Compass of Seidh (Loki’s Hair)
Friday: This one is really creepy, to my eyes. It’s the grin. And, you know, bleeding severed head. The hair and stubbly beard are Rugged Woodsman (Unkempt Hair.)
Saturday: Mostly, I don’t use the Escheresque background often enough. The rest of this avatar, meh.

Week of March 10th, 2013

Sunday: After those very lifelike robots, I felt I had to compensate slightly. And thus, a rather artificial automaton.
Monday: An orange and black avatar. Not much going on, all told.
Tuesday: A spaceman with no face, man. Study in whed, blight, and rack.
Wednesday: And now we’re getting somewhere: A headless horsewoman with a spare head. Unfortunately, the head’s just sort of floating in front of the horse for some (layering) reason.
Thursday: As usual, the avatar for 3.14 celebrates pi day. In this case, it’s pizza pie day. Why this particular person eats the pie, I don’t know.
Friday: Also as usual, March 15th recognizes the Ides with someone greco-roman getting stabbed.
Saturday: At the end of the week, I just wanted to relax and be dwarfish with the new axe from Rugged Woodsman.

no that’s the thing. there is no horn of gondor lego so they used a banana piece… it’s to be ~interpreted~ as the horn, but it’s a banana.

Sorry, nope, that’s not even the horn’s replacement. In the game, he gets shot by an arrow, a broom, I think a duck? And the last “arrow” that gets him is, in fact, a banana.

Week of March 3rd, 2013 - Steam Powered Giraffes

Sunday: Sadly I had the idea a little too late to start the week, so this is an anonymous fop on a piano. Let’s go with Beethoven.
Monday: The Spine. Usually in the center of the group, The Spine seems to be the leader of Steam-Powered Giraffe. He’s certainly the most consistently functional.
Tuesday: Rabbit. Most malfunctional of the robots, as he still retains most of his original, 1896-era parts. The amount of corrosion in his facial plates varies from time to time.
Wednesday: Hatchworth. A recent returnee to functional service, he bears a striking resemblance to former human band drummer Sam Luke. Nobody knows quite why.
Thursday: The Jon. Modified in the 90s to- among other things- run off of Crystal Pepsi- this gold art-deco robot has recently undergone a temporary deactivation. Word is, they ran out of Crystal Pepsi.
Friday: Upgrade. The single female robot design I’ve seen any evidence of. No word has been uncovered as to why she no longer appears with the performers, but I suspect it has to do with an illogical obsession with “starting a family” with The Spine.
Saturday: I am neither a robot nor a musician… but if I were… It’s not difficult to imagine a half-finished reactivated for the purpose of drumming.

Week of February 24th, 2013

Sunday: I’m pretty sure this avatar started by pairing Memphis’ Shining Locks with Water Wielder and working from there. The purpose must have been to us those locks in a way that didn’t look weird, since they get rid of eyebrows.
Monday: The Hasty Red Masked Hat had a fairly Crimbo Hero vibe to it, so I got one without seeing whether or not it would work with the Spirited 2k6 Hat. It does not. Still, there’s no point in wasting a perfectly good superhero hat.
Tuesday: The initial idea of this character is that he resemble a character from Elite Beat Agents. But the similarities are minimal at best. Now he looks like some sort of… rock and roll FBI agent. Wasn’t there a character like that in… Apollo Justice?
Wednesday: Fantastic Creatures, relatively mundane situations. This is a centaur cosplaying a cat from his favorite TV show.
Thursday: The faceless glitch (ala Lumiere Noire (Noire’s dusk form) combined with Oppa Style (Show me your moves!) and Shades. This avatar got some pretty surprised reactions when I took it to Gaia Towns, I tell you what.
Friday: I… where are you even, Tengu? Is that coffee?
Saturday: I must have been eating pizza. Lots of pizza. That’s all I can figure. Why I wanted a high-school self-portrait in a flying saucer is beyond me.

Week of February 17th, 2013 - Goodbye Greenglitch.
The green goo glitch had been fixed. It was a glitch that I frequently had to work around (though I occasionally deliberately invoked it.) The background of this week’s image is grey to illustrate where greenglitch would have been in the past.

Sunday: A variant of the earliest green-glitchy avatar I saved. Forteanagoria (Grey Body) actually shows even more glitchy areas than a backwards skeleton.
Monday: Combining Wednesday and Thursday of this week results, in this new post-green world, with this avatar. The only tricky part about Triton is that his tail is the Gogh Reed (azure tail) instead of the Yemaya’s Pearl (blue dolphin tail) since Yemaya’s Pearl (under the sea) is already in use creating the semi-transparency.
Tuesday: Did I mention most of this week’s avatars are at least partial remakes? Because Tuesday the current week is closely related to Tuesday of this week. …and it’s still weird.
Wednesday: Transparency over background: NO LONGER MY FOE. Every avatar has at least one minor difference from the avatar it’s patterned after. In this case, it switching out hakama pants (from Yama no Tamago) for a belt (from Forteanagoria, as per this week’s Thursday- though there it’s more subtle.)
Thursday: Origin: Thursday. I have no further elaboration on this avatar.
Friday: This is simply the base leaning-tengu pose with the Twilight Sparkling Skin. It’s awesome.
Saturday: This avatar has nothing to do with greenglitch, but has plenty to do with the 10th anniversary of Gaia, which is what inspired Gaia to get rid of the green goo glitch for good. It’s a pretty successful background-blend, I think. You can hardly see this week’s second appearance of Forteanagoria (Grey Body.)

Week of February 10th, 2013 - Valentine’s Week and Gaia Anniversary

Sunday: Shingen Takeda is a character from Warriors Orochi, and notably, the nemesis of Kenshin Uesugi. He’s a leftover from the January 27th week, when I decided to cut the Dynasty/Samurai Warriors characters in the week down by a few notches. Looks good, though.
Monday: An odd take on that old standby, Vega. Normally, Vega is distinctly handsome without his mask. I decided to subvert this, and so I used the only mask that can be held in hand (that I know of): Picolitrosso’s Urn (opulent mask.) Other than that, he’s much the same as previous Vegas.
Tuesday: …I forget how this avatar came about. Maybe it was the pink hat? In any event, I’m always fond of tough ladies, so I think this avatar is super-cute. Um, let’s see. Hair is Mizuchi’s Jewel (Daija’s Wig), skin is Dandy’s Reprise, dress is Gogh Reed (cake apron) over top of Little Diner Pink Dress, legs are The Case of Pietro (Barista’s Loafers) Any Questions?
Wednesday: Your average cupid. Someone hit on me in the Valentine’s forum while I was wearing this avvy. I’m… not sure if they knew I was a guy? ‘cuz…
Thursday’s avatar was far too manly for the same person. In my own little narrative, btw, Cupid shot this guy, who’s bringing flowers to the girl from Tuesday.
Friday: …Nice summary of my day, Tengu. Very well done.

Week of February 3rd, 2013 - Start of a new job…

Sunday: There’s a picture of a man- presumably a sikh, who is a dead ringer for me. My friend squid ichorous discovered it, and I became so enamored of it that it’s my profile picture on Facebook. And then I decided to make an avatar based on it.
Monday: We watched some original Star Trek on Super Bowl Sunday, so here’s Captain Kirk about ready to put his fists or phasers into a space-beast.
Tuesday: The day after I started my new job, I had nothing going. This is approximately a self-portrait, as I *felt like* my head was turning into a screen…
Wednesday: …aaand I was having such trouble staying awake while reading the training documents that I drew a vinyl record onto a sticky-note and pretended to scratch on it when I started feeling hazy.
Thursday: An old back-burner avy. Just hadn’t had an appropriate place for him. So here he was. I… think I came up with some justification for him? But I can’t recall it now.
Friday: By Friday, of course, I’m all set to relax *just* a little. And having recently acquired Secret Retreat, it was obvious to put the Tengu upon the cushions.
Saturday: I got a couple of Buccaneer [X] Pirate Coats; Leather and Royal specifically, and I *tried* to format an avatar around them, but I kinda got distracted. This kinda sad icy pirate is the end result.

Week of January 27th, 2013 - Cosplay a go-go, baby!

Sunday: I have recently replayed the Sly Trilogy- (Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves) so I thought I’d try a Sly Cooper cosplay.
Monday: I’ve also been playing a little Warriors Orochi 1, since I discovered it was released for the PC. This is Sun Ce, with the Black Tonfa in each hand, and the Imperial Han atop his head. The Sun brothers are the reason I bought Imperial Han in the first place, so… there’s that.
Tuesday: Not often Luigi shows up here. But here he is, l- I should have had a ghost here for him to suck up with his vacuum. Whoops.
Wednesday: Again relating to Warriors Orochi, this is Sima Zhao. I played him a lot in WO3. Less so in WO, since he does not appear.
Thursday: …I’m sorry for this one. This is Clark Kent. He gets points for not being a primarily video-game character.
Friday: Sima Yi, father of Sima Zhao. The quality is at sort of a low ebb at this point in the week, but Sima Yi has some promise.
Saturday: And a Link. The hair is Secret Retreat (hair de fleur); the sword is the base pose of Draconis Adamantine- good sword, that.

Week of January 20th, 2013 - ~~No Country for Old Men~~ Secondhand Lions

Sunday: I made an obvious tourist without using the Obvious Tourist item. It’s the small victories.
Monday: The beard here is from SDPlus #198 Auldivin the Stonehand, making this the second SDPlus doll I own. The outfit is because I had a job interview that day. (compare Wednesday of this week.) More on that, though.
Tuesday: The Junk food pirate returns once more! This time he’s only eating things from the 2012 Xmas event on Gaia: the only poses of both Holiday Feast and Horded Snack Cakes. They just suit him so well, you know?
Wednesday: This is one crabby wizard. And he has both a staff and a wand, I guess? The crabby expression comes from Old Nikolas (Salt and Pepper Beard) atop The Case of Pietro (Inspector’s Face).
Thursday: This avatar is mainly about the pants. A bunch of new gold shop items that recently came out, including the Áo Dài series of items. (which will never have its accents again outside of this post, so savor it.) These are Yellow Áo Dài Pants. Other pieces of not-necessarily-obvious note: Shadowlegend ‘wandering fist belt’
Friday: Every once in a while, I like to show the Tengu with his dad. This avatar occurs, of course, after he grows out of his sulky stage.
Saturday: Probably the biggest complaint the company had at my interview was that my beard was far too shaggy to work there. So this is sort of a farewell to Gummy, since I no longer have the shagginess required to play him.

Week of January 13th, 2013- Companions week

I was feeling lonely, so every avatar this week has friends or family or *something* with them.

Sunday: This is three generations in a centaur family. Sometime centaurs have offspring that are all horse or all human; these offspring nevertheless retain many of the psychological aspects of centaurs, most notably the level of intelligence remaining the same. That said, it’s odd that grandfather has his child (daughter, probably) on a rein.
Monday: For all his tough trappings, this hunter is clearly not at odds with his leopard companion. I don’t think it’s stuffed, though…
Tuesday: A Crimbo Hero variant, with the Frenzy Goblin Helmet. That looks like a nice hug, don’t it?
Wednesday: Possibly the least friendly, this a g-g-g-ghost! With a victim of some sort. Probably related to a game I’m working on. Bits and bobs of it will get to my pixel tumblr later, but it’s part of a game jam at the moment, so I’m keeping it under wraps for now.
Thursday: A brony and his ponies. I should have given him different eyes.
Friday: Tengu, didn’t you just get thrown out of underwater just the other week? Why are you cavorting with underwater critters again?
Saturday: Well… they can’t all be winners.

Week of January 6th, 2013 - Abstracts and Objects Sunday: Moons...

Week of January 6th, 2013 - Abstracts and Objects

Sunday: Moons everywhere. My major source of distress here is that I couldn’t find an actual object meant to be a moon to obscure the majority of the avatar-body, so I had to resort to the Spartan Shield. These tricks used here are pretty standard for me; Shadowlegend (Raiden Meditation) is what makes the body fit behind the shield, and the head is obscured via the Faceless glitch, with Picolitrosso’s Urn (Moon Mask) finishing the job.
Monday: Raiden Meditation again, and the Faceless glitch crossed with a Lumiere Noire Reborn, to get the eyeless version of the faceless glitch. The result is the Doomsday Party Placard sitting pretty by itself. I tossed it into Fallen King for a laugh.
Tuesday: Black Ops Gear- even including the (Stealthy Cardboard Box)- is not an item I get a lot of use out of. But today was its turn to shine, against the background of The Case of Pietro (another crime scene.) A POSE WHICH ANNOYS ME by dint of being red from one angle and blue from the other. Pietro has a few poses like that.
Wednesday: Pietro again; it’s the (mob) pose, with Jinxi’s Charm (you are Jinxi doll). There’re probably a lot of poses that will get that split-mob appearance, but few are short enough to do so while also hiding behind the rest of the crowd.
Thursday: The Jack-O-Lantern (You are a lit jack-o-lantern) + Smashing Cities (Tokyo on Faia). The only unusual thing about this avatar is that this is the sitting pose, because that makes the crashing plane line up with the carved eye.
Friday: …Tengu with a tank. Gods save our broken little bodies.
Saturday: Another Lumiere Noire faceless avatar, (so, Timmy, Demonic Style, Lumiere Noire,) but this seemed the perfect place to pile them atop The Case of Pietro (Brawler’s Pose.) I’ve wanted to do something with this effect for a while (the effect being a body-modifying pose without any eyes/hair/etc,) but I didn’t have any ideas past this portion. So it earned itself a place as an avatar in its own right.
Additionally, many of my avatars lose cohesion when put into one of the social flash states (Towns/Rally/etc,) but this last one works very well.

Week of December 30th, 2012 - The last week of 2012

Sunday: I tried using some other parts of Old Nikolas, but (Cold Sunset) and the (Salt and Pepper Beard) are really what I came for.
Monday: The annual Old Year avatar. He’s slightly anime-inspired, but that’s about it. I’ve approximately run out of scythes, though, so I need to pick one up in 2013.
Tuesday: This Baby New Year finally has a diaper. It’s okay, though- he also has a top hat. (And of course, the avatar uses the hair ribbon trick, to appear bald.)
Wednesday: A musketeer type based on the Cavalier Corsair (hair). What I cannot remember is if I got the Ebony Sewell because I was making the avatar, or if I bought it on a whim and built an avatar to go with it.
Thursday: Ancient Cheddar Avenger. Not much special to say about this, except the grilled-cheese hand item was an easy purchase.
Friday: …Tengu, why are you always being thrown out of places? You are being genuinely kicked out of, like… “the ocean.”
Saturday: Oh gods. Yuck. I went to a NYE party and apparently half the people there caught the plague. I was so out of it all I could do was make a vague self-portrait avatar.
