Hobbit's Gaia Avatars
Week of April 14th, 2013 - Faceless O’Clock
Every avatar this weeks uses the Faceless Glitch or the Truly Faceless Glitch- the one with Lumiere Noire. There’s not a whole lot else to it.
Sunday: Spicy DJ (Crank that Sound), Big Bad Bossu (Legs).Monday: Old Nikolas (Armored Great Coat) and (Birch-Grown Spear), Beard Science (Fireproof Slacks), War of the Warlords (Vlad’s Cap), and some white gloves. Old Nikolas’s coat doesn’t do a very good job of hiding the wings from Lumiere Noire.Tuesday: The Case of Pietro (the wreck), Mystery of the Stolen Sapphires (Countess’s Dress), Dander (Duster), White Traveller Undershirt, and some white gloves. The Dander Duster, by contrast, hides the wings excellently.Wednesday: Death’s Whisper (Consume), Dutiful Butler’s Black Coat, Dancer’s Bottom, and Black Sweetheart Silk Top Hat. This avatar only uses the regular faceless glitch.Thursday: Big Bad Bossu Default pose, (Legs) and (Hair).Friday: enitrely too many items went into this. The core includes Yama no Tamago (ao no tengutsuki), DandiDooDad Spore (Symbiont Phase III), Mizuchi’s Jewel (Enko’s Cucumber), and Kelp O’ The Loch (weedhair); after that, you simply throw whatever green and planty outfit parts you have at it. (Again, regular faceless glitch only)Saturday: Lovely Genie (vest, pants, slippers, lamp), Djinn Baharat default pose, Dandy’s Reprise default pose, Forteanagoria (eyes of the Mothman)

Week of March 31st, 2013
Sunday: At the end of the Easter Event, I wanted to be a robotic rabbit entity. So I put this together.Monday: I’ve been a bit starved for ideas lately: working all the time. But we *do* play Bang! at work a lot…Tuesday: This is a scary guy in a dark cloak. I told you I was kinda starved for ideas, didn’t I?Wednesday: This fellow was kicking around my saved avatars for quite some time. I tossed some appropriately-colored socks on him and threw him out the door.Thursday: More ravens, blackbirds, and crows than the previous record-holder. That was my goal. Being more gruesome was a side effect.Friday: …I just hope you have Freya’s permission to be on her chariot, Tengu. I just hope.Saturday: My entire weekend was basically spent eating pasta with no shirt on. And this is another standard self-portrait avatar.

Week of March 10th, 2013
Sunday: After those very lifelike robots, I felt I had to compensate slightly. And thus, a rather artificial automaton.Monday: An orange and black avatar. Not much going on, all told.Tuesday: A spaceman with no face, man. Study in whed, blight, and rack.Wednesday: And now we’re getting somewhere: A headless horsewoman with a spare head. Unfortunately, the head’s just sort of floating in front of the horse for some (layering) reason.Thursday: As usual, the avatar for 3.14 celebrates pi day. In this case, it’s pizza pie day. Why this particular person eats the pie, I don’t know. Friday: Also as usual, March 15th recognizes the Ides with someone greco-roman getting stabbed.Saturday: At the end of the week, I just wanted to relax and be dwarfish with the new axe from Rugged Woodsman.

Week of January 20th, 2013 - No Country for Old Men Secondhand Lions
Sunday: I made an obvious tourist without using the Obvious Tourist item. It’s the small victories.Monday: The beard here is from SDPlus #198 Auldivin the Stonehand, making this the second SDPlus doll I own. The outfit is because I had a job interview that day. (compare Wednesday of this week.) More on that, though.Tuesday: The Junk food pirate returns once more! This time he’s only eating things from the 2012 Xmas event on Gaia: the only poses of both Holiday Feast and Horded Snack Cakes. They just suit him so well, you know?Wednesday: This is one crabby wizard. And he has both a staff and a wand, I guess? The crabby expression comes from Old Nikolas (Salt and Pepper Beard) atop The Case of Pietro (Inspector’s Face).Thursday: This avatar is mainly about the pants. A bunch of new gold shop items that recently came out, including the Áo Dài series of items. (which will never have its accents again outside of this post, so savor it.) These are Yellow Áo Dài Pants. Other pieces of not-necessarily-obvious note: Shadowlegend ‘wandering fist belt’Friday: Every once in a while, I like to show the Tengu with his dad. This avatar occurs, of course, after he grows out of his sulky stage.Saturday: Probably the biggest complaint the company had at my interview was that my beard was far too shaggy to work there. So this is sort of a farewell to Gummy, since I no longer have the shagginess required to play him.

Week of December 30th, 2012 - The last week of 2012
Sunday: I tried using some other parts of Old Nikolas, but (Cold Sunset) and the (Salt and Pepper Beard) are really what I came for.Monday: The annual Old Year avatar. He’s slightly anime-inspired, but that’s about it. I’ve approximately run out of scythes, though, so I need to pick one up in 2013.Tuesday: This Baby New Year finally has a diaper. It’s okay, though- he also has a top hat. (And of course, the avatar uses the hair ribbon trick, to appear bald.)Wednesday: A musketeer type based on the Cavalier Corsair (hair). What I cannot remember is if I got the Ebony Sewell because I was making the avatar, or if I bought it on a whim and built an avatar to go with it.Thursday: Ancient Cheddar Avenger. Not much special to say about this, except the grilled-cheese hand item was an easy purchase.Friday: …Tengu, why are you always being thrown out of places? You are being genuinely kicked out of, like… “the ocean.”Saturday: Oh gods. Yuck. I went to a NYE party and apparently half the people there caught the plague. I was so out of it all I could do was make a vague self-portrait avatar.

 Week of December 9th, 2012
Sunday: For the first night of Chanukah, I put together a character to look like a Hasidic Jew. The coat is called a Rekel, (because it’s Sunday;) I bought the Black Single Loop Tied Belt to represent a Gartel (a belt worn to divide the body in two while praying.) I don’t intend any disrespect with this outfit, but I worry about cultural appropriation.Monday: This avatar is sort of an outtake from last week’s Kappaganza.* He’s a prince sent to a foreign country as an envoy, I think.Tuesday: …Okay, he’s over-the-top. But the confidence this guy exudes is impressive. Look at that expression. “Isn’t this all you’ve… ever wanted?”Wednesday: This was 12-12-12! I celebrate by… uh… making an outfit out of Cavalier Corsair? I don’t have enough for the whole outfit, but I could someday.Thursday: Here is the origin of the junk food pirate. …I swear I’ve done more versions of him than that, though I can’t find any.Friday: “It’s like the Tengu is glaring at me through a cat-shaped window!” Why? Uh…Saturday: Another out-take, this one from next week. In case it’s not evident, this is Santa’s tenth reindeer, Olive.*Man, Kappaganza! I should have thought of that at the time.

Week of December 2nd, 2012 - My birthday and a flock of Kappa
Sunday: I’m a cube! (3*3*3). For my birthday this year we had “things wrapped in things”; wontons, crepes, spanakopita, filled dumplings, and pierogis. That’s why I’m holding a meat bun.Monday: All the other avatars this week are variants on the idea of a Kappa, a mythological japanese river-beast that needs to keep the depression on the top of its head full of water, or it will lose the ability to move and possibly also die. This first kappa, by contrast, appears to have no such pool.Tuesday: The headdress from Cultured Kappa is sort of odd. I assume that it is meant to cover up the ‘sara.’ Wikipedia says kappa sometimes wear ‘a metal cap for protection.’Wednesday: This is the day that I got Mizuchi’s Jewel- a crucial item to have, if you want to be a kappa. I still haven’t used much of the other character- (the kappa is name Enko, and there’s a fire dragon named Daija.) This avatar is supposed to be a kappa captured by scientists for studying.Thursday: In general, commonly-used items in this week include Yama no Tamago, Cultured Kappa, and Mizuchi’s Jewel. This avatar (more someone dressed as a kappa than the genuine article) also is using Inari’s Beads, because the EI suited the theme even if its poses did not.Friday: Hey, Tengu, don’t look behind you.Saturday: Looks like the Tengu’s caretaker knows more than a few creatures from Japanese folklore. I guess Tengu’s known that Kappa girl for a while…?

Week of November 25th, 2012
Sunday: Astral Cat! Sort of a cat-shaped hole in spacetime. Padmavat’s Lotus (cosmic skin,) Catastrophe (you are cat?), and Demonic Style (  |||), with the hair ribbon trick on top. Monday: During the saga of Timmy, he ran into some interesting characters- one of them was “Crazy Murderer Keith.” This is a reasonable facsimile thereof. (His whole appearance is available as a subset of the Timmy EI.) Most notable is his hair: Antipathy (prisoner’s hair.) Oh, and the bathtub is from Bloody Heist. Not sure where that item came from, but it made sense here.Tuesday: Um. Some sort of king, I suppose? Impressions suggest I wanted to use Nikolai’s Experiment (hair) for something that wasn’t science or science fiction. Perhaps interestingly, the white skin is from Yama no Tamago; the mustache from Nikolai covers up the beak pretty well. Wednesday: The Wicked Gravekeeper Coat and the Frenzy Goblin Helmet had an immediate synergy, and the Case of Pietro (Queen’s Gloves) blends wonderfully into the aforementioned coat. On the other hand, the Changeling Baby Boy (trollish pants black) covered up the Kelp o’ the Loch (black water horse legs). So, kind of a mixed bag. I’ll do better next time, I swear.Thursday: OPPA GANGNAM STYLEFriday: Oh noooo Tengu! Don’t let the Cat from Catastrophe (grabby) get you!Saturday: I’ve been working with this variant of the Cheddar Avenger for a while now, and I’m basically just done with him. I couldn’t make something really interesting, so… done. NEXT

Week of November 18th, 2012 - Dem Bones
Sunday: The Halloween 2k12 Thrones of Bones is what started the idea in my head- I’ve got a lot of skeletal items, why not make a theme week of them? This angry little fellow doesn’t really suit a throne of bones, though, does he? You expect someone more… lazy?Monday: I saw the El Vestido Elegante Con Rosas Roja in Barton Boutique and immediately bought it. It went into this avatar the next day. The character herself is probably at least partially supernatural; skeletal parrots are difficult to come by for mortal-types. Additional bonage; Spirit Pyre ‘bone bracelets’.Tuesday: A faceless-glitch’d beastie with a skull helmet (YHBT Hat, ‘rotfl skull’) and a black skeleton. (Grim Reaper, ‘Black skeleton’) As for the character, I couldn’t tell you much about him. He’s sort of prim.Wednesday: So I think that Antipathy ‘Wraak’s Mask’ is *hilarious* when combined with the Black Skeleton Shirt and Skeleton Pants. Like, it’s supposed to be this horrible denom, but he’s resorted to painting bones on his own shirt to get the effect. I once again don’t know what he’s doing, but the combination of Shadowlegend ‘Bones’, Harry Potter Student Cauldron, and Science Camp Beaker & Tongs is pretty interesting.Thursday: Thanksgiving! This avatar is basically inappropriate in most ways I could think of, so here’s a list of (some) ingredients. Spirit Pyre ‘Nose Bone’, Gary’s Island Adveture ‘The Gary Remains’, Viking Love ‘Troll’s Heart’, Antique Shop ‘Sloth Body Paint’, and Jinxi’s Charm ‘Forgiven Headdress’.Friday: Not exactly calling back to Thursday of this week, but sharing some critical elements, the entire point of this avatar is to be a counterpoint to Captain Ara’s Nestegg ‘Davy Jones’. I’d’ve done well to mix it up further- like, using the Ce.Ch.Be. Embryonic Vial ‘Fifth Mutation’ as a base, for example.Saturday: A bonehead. He’s got the Gogh Reed ‘bone helmet’, the Aged Bone Mask, the Bone Scythe, and the Knocked Out Teeth. I… guess this guy is trying to look skeletal? Being thin might help…
